St. Philip’s College hosted the 10th Annual CORE4 STEM Family Day in partnership with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SAHCC) on November 9, 2019, at the MLK Campus. The free event provided information on career opportunities and pathways in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). St. Philip’s College was one of 10 campuses SAHCC partnered with for the week-long program.

The event hosted approximately 150 youth, parents and college students as they experienced hands-on STEM demonstrations, exhibits, informational booths and other STEM-related activities. Six faculty members presented STEM workshops that included Learning in Virtual Reality, Cyber Security, Synthetic Biology and Forensic Science. Community partners such as Girls, Inc. and Ella Austin Community Center collaborated by promoting the event to families in the community.

CORE4’s mission is to stimulate students’ interest in the sciences and lead them to discover their potential in these areas.
