TWO SPC STUDENTS RECEIVE OPTIMIST CLUB OF SAN ANTONIO SCHOLARSHIPS

When the Optimist Club of San Antonio announced recipients of their 2018 vocational scholarship awards this spring, two St. Philip's College students were named as recipients of the $500 scholarship awards.

The club presented its Optimist Club of San Antonio $500 Peterson vocational scholarship to nursing student Nancy Figueroa, and the club presented its Optimist Club of San Antonio $500 Tezel vocational scholarship to HVAC student Juan Soto.

Both students were notified in April 20 letters from Optimist Club of San Antonio 2018 scholarship chair Rob Glenn. One ceremonial highlight of the award process was a photo May 15 in the Fiesta Room of the Luby’s 911 N. Main St. location with (from left) Glenn and Figueroa. Soto was unable to attend the May 15 photo session. The funds will be sent to St. Philip's College on behalf of both Soto and Figueroa to defray tuition, book and fee costs for future semesters of study.
